A Overdue Catch-Up

Hi all,

Well it’s been a great start to the year and I’m full of beans for the rest of it, especially some warm weather!

The start of January saw me finish the final week for Imagine Theatre company at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.  It was a great run this year with faces old & new and I had a great time.  It was also the first time I’ve taken my Sandberg bass on pit work and I was stoked with it.  It manages to be a handful of basses in one and coming through the pretty sizeable in house system it sounded huge!

Almost straight after getting back to Bristol I was off for a few days teaching at Falmouth University and Penwith College meeting new students and getting stuck into lessons. There is a high caliber of students all with their eyes firmly set on what they want to achieve which is both exciting and challenging to keep up with them!

A recording I had the privilege of playing on in November was released in January at an launch party in Cornwall.  Samuel Powell’s “The Secret Garden Cafe” is a truly original sounding recording and I’m really pleased to have been a part of it. Head over to the “Discography” section for more info and links to iTunes.

Aside from all that I’ve been working with The People’s String Foundation a great deal in various formats.  The full band performed to a sell out audience at the Chapel Arts Centre in Bath and now Ben, Zaid and myself are in the middle of a trio tour which will be popping up all over the country as part of a rural touring scheme.  It’s been a real challenge to distill the intricate music which is usually played by so many excellent musicians down to a three piece but it’s one we are enjoying enormously, also I’m on double bass for the whole show so I’m happy as Larry! 😀

There are more new projects in the pipeline but I think I’ve waffled on enough for now.  I hope everyone is thoroughly enjoying getting stuck into 2015, stay safe, chat soon.
