Free Live Ruarri Joseph Track

Here’s a live bootleg from the Falmouth gig we did with Ruarri in December.  Ru’s put it up on Soundcloud for a free download which is cool so help yourselves and let us know what you think.

New Look Site

Finally got round to updating the look and info on here, it’s all still very much in the Beta stages but if you guys have any thoughts or comments please let me know, it would be great to hear what you think. I’ve added a few more dates to the Live page as well so have a butchers if you fancy coming along to a gig or two.

In other news Jack Wallen and I played a few tunes down at Miss Peapod’s Cafe last night which was the first public outing of the duo and we’re both pretty chuffed with how it’s sounding.  Jack is looking to record a live E.P. next month so standby for more info on that soon.

There are a couple of great gigs with the People’s String Foundation coming up soon as well, one at the Shtumm night in Wiltshire on the 24th and the other at Mr. Wolf’s in Bristol on the 25th.  Mr. Wolf’s is always a great night, I’m really looking forward to it.

Finally, the Strings had a few dates in Cornwall recently and for a couple of them we had support from a singer/songwriter from Wales called Sion Russel Jones.  Sion stormed both gigs and really made an impression on everyone there, I really hope we get to share a stage again in the future.  See what you think of his cover of the Ray Charles tune “Drown In My Own Tears”.

Jack Wallen Rehearsal

Last year I was lucky enough to meet and work with a whole host of really fantastic musicians and I’m happy to say this year is shaping up to be no different. Yesterday I met and had a rehearsal with an amazing singer/songwriter called Jack Wallen. Jack has been working pretty hard writing some great tunes and raising his profile over the last couple of years and when he put out a cry for a double bassist I jumped at the chance to play with him.  He came round, had a little food, showed me a few tunes and I tried my best not to play too loud (or out of tune!) in my cold little flat.  I made a few bootleg recordings on my phone to hear how it sounded, they’re a bit rough and ready but see what you think.

Please check Jack out on Twitter and Facebook for more info.
