Before we played in Totnes the other night, Al Jones, Max Evans and I popped into Totnes Monster radio to record a few tracks and do a quick interview. Here’s us doing Al’s song, This Door.
All three tracks are available for download on the station’s website here.
Tonight I’ll be playing with Al Jones at the Barrel House in Totnes, we’ll also have Max Evans on sax so it’s going to be a great trio gig, looking forward to it. Hope to see some of you there.
Here’s the poster for a couple of dates with The People’s String Foundation. It’s part of the theatre tour that’s starting this year and going on into 2012. The small 200 seater venues suit The PSF down to the ground and we’ll be playing the Making Waves album in full followed by a short set of tasters from the next album.
So, quite lot’s happened in the last four weeks. First, my friend Ben (front man of The People’s String Foundation) and his lovely lady have had a baby by the name of Nelly May. A big congratulations of Ben and Soph, Nelly is beautiful and I’m sure she’s going to be a virtuoso on all instruments by the time she’s out of nappies.
So whilst the Strings have been a little quieter I’ve been out on the road touring with the Ruarri Joseph band. We did a short major city tour over a week and we had a great time. We met some great people, played some great places and after the last show in London we went straight into David Gray’s Church studio to spend a few weeks recording Ruarri’s new album. The tracks already sound great even if I do say so, we had mega producer Rich Wilkinson working with us and he was instrumental in capturing the band’s sound and getting the best out of Ruarri’s tunes. The album should be out some time early next year and we should be out on the road again touring it in Spring. Exciting stuff.
Whilst in the studio I took delivery of my new TC Electronic rig. I’m now playing their RH750 head through a RS212 cabinet and it sounds awesome! It’s great having all that head room to play with and the tone is killer with the double as well as the electric. It’s also allowed me to get rid of quite a lot of my pedal board so there’s space in there now for more toys! I’m really happy to be a TC artist and I’d like to say a big thanks to Tobias and Jennifer for all their help.
There should be a load of photos from the recording session coming soon but in the meantime here’s a little shot from my corner of the massive live room at Church Studios.
